Custom Orthotics

Custom Orthotics Coon Rapids, MN

If your feet aren’t providing the support you need and you’re dealing with discomfort when you are doing simple things like walking, jumping or running, you could likely benefit from custom orthotics. When your feet aren’t properly supported you can suffer from pain and stress on your major muscles and joints. At Caring Chiropractic Center we offer custom orthotics to help reinforce your feet and free you from the discomfort and pain that comes from your body being out of alignment.

What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are custom shaped insoles that are placed inside shoes to restore natural foot movement. Orthotics are often required when your lower body has been disrupted causing extra strain on the feet and in turn the back and spine. Many complaints that we hear from patients about knee pain, back pain and heel pain can be caused by poor foot mechanics.

Why Should I Visit a Chiropractor for Custom Orthotics?

In the past patients may have thought that going to see a podiatrist was the only option they had when it comes to being fitted for custom orthotics. Why then should you contact a Chiropractor for Orthotics?

Dr. Kenneth Ruf and his team at Caring Chiropractic Center have received specialized training to assess whether or not you even need custom orthotics. As Chiropractors we’re trained to treat the whole body and can determine how orthotics can improve your recovery from other injuries such as hip, back or knee pain. We even have a 3-D Laser Optical Scanner Foot Leveler that can give us a clear picture of your foot problems.

Caring Chiropractic Center uses 3”D” technology by Foot Leveler. This is a laser scanner that measures the 3 arches of the feet. All orthotics are flex soles that move with the feet as they step.

Simply putting a corrective orthotic inside your shoe without addressing other issues in your body may not be effective. At Caring Chiropractic Center we think it’s important to clear any restrictions in your ankles, feet and lower back prior to the use of any custom orthotics. Once all of your muscles and joints are working correctly, a Minnesota Chiropractor can then prescribe orthotics to help strengthen and maintain your balance and biomechanics of the feet.

Are Orthotics Always Required?

The answer is absolutely no. We have plenty of patients who only need exercise and manipulation to heal from injury. However if your muscles and ligaments are not strong enough to support your feet to prevent future injury, orthotics can be a great addition to an overall general wellness plan.

Custom Orthotics Aren’t Just Insoles

Some of our patients have asked if they can just purchase insoles from a store and achieve the same result as orthotics. Using standard insoles that can be purchased from a big box store have no comparison to the benefits of orthotics. In fact, with custom orthotics from a Chiropractor, your insoles will be custom designed to your exact feet. This allows you to have more even weight distribution on your feet, taking pressure off areas that cause you problems such as heels, bunions, soles of your feet, etc.

Are Orthotics Right for Me?

It’s difficult to know whether orthotics are a good treatment option for you without a comprehensive assessment from an experienced chiropractor. At Caring Chiropractic Center, we’ll sit down with you to determine whether custom orthotics will help to improve your foot pain and contribute to your overall wellbeing.
